Pricing
To begin with AWS is primarily based on a pro-rated usage model. Essentially you pay for what you use. While that sounds very simple, and really is pretty simple the end result is a little less predictable. If you are familiar with flat rates this is not that. One thing that is nice is that so many services are entirely “free”. There are never fees for a “service” aside from the usage charges. If you are familiar with very strict license models where you are paying for each CPU or concurrent instances, this is not the case. There will be a pricing section on each service with estimates and gotchas.
